General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force on 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive.  This regulation very significantly increases the obligations and responsibilities for all organisations and business in how they collect, use and protect personal data.

It is important that each Golf Club is fully transparent about how they are using and safeguarding personal data and can demonstrate accountability for their data processing activities.

General information relating to Data Protection and GDPR is available on the Data Protection Commissioners website: http://www.dataprotection.ie or the Information Commissioners Office website: www.ico.org.uk

CGI have gathered some useful documentation on GDPR from other sports organisations and the Data Protection Commissioner/Information Commissioners Office to provide guidelines on how data protections specifically impacts Golf Club which can be seen in the documentation below.

Please Note: CGI support officers will not be providing additional support on Data Protection queries.  Clubs should seek additional information from the relevant organisations and/or seek legal advice.
